Capay Valley Vision, a community based organization established to help preserve and promote the Capay Valley, Sunday hosted its fifth annual "Taste of Capay" benefit dinner and auction, raising nearly $28,000.

The annual gathering took place at Taber Ranch Event Center, a family-owned business in Brooks.

Guests enjoyed culinary delights created by Cache Creek Casino chefs, who used the best local ingredients and award-winning wine. Highlights also included live music, fine arts, and an agricultural products auction by professional auctioneer Joe Gates.

"We are thrilled to again have Cache Creek Casino generously donate their time and talents to the Taste of Capay," said Capay Valley Vision Executive Director Sue Heitman. "The Taste of Capay is an event we all look forward to, and with the seamless help of the Casino, it was a success again."

The Taste of Capay began as a small group of neighbors and has developed into a grand production with more than 350 people. This is the second year Cache Creek Casino Resort and the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians catered the entire event with Executive Chef Stefan Cheng and Chef de Cuisine Ryan De Guzman.

"The Taste of Capay is truly a showcase of all that our community has to offer, as well as the talents of our casino chefs. We are honored to support this wonderful event," said Marshall McKay, Chairman of the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians.

Capay Valley Vision is committed to promoting all the Valley has to offer. "Buy local, buy fresh" is a motto taken to heart. Organic farms and fresh produce thrive in the valley and are in high demand from restaurants all over surrounding areas, including Sacramento and San Francisco. Capay Valley Vision works actively to create an environment where the valley's diverse residents can engage personally in the future of their area.

In addition to the Tribe and Casino, other key sponsors included NAU Companies, Emerald Homes, Chamberlain Farms, Road Trip Bar and Grill, Community Medical Centers, Esparto Family Practice, Viking Propane, and Wilkinson Tractor.
