Site Protection
The Tribe is taking an active role in site protection and cultural monitoring throughout Patwin territory. This involves negotiation of cultural resource protection and tribal monitoring agreements, participation in the local general planning process, developing protocols for effective consultation between tribal and local governments, monitoring proposed legislation and analyzing its impact on tribal rights and developing and maintaining relationships with key local, state and federal decision makers on preservation issues of importance to the Tribe.
Working with the Native American Heritage Commission, the Tribes Most Likely Descendants (MLD) help direct Tribal monitors, who assist with the protection of burial sites encountered during local building projects.
